Shibata Katsuie and Chokoji

In 1570 Nobunaga placed Shibata Katsuie at Chokoji.

The Chronicle of Lord Nobunaga (p. 144)

"In Chokoji, Shibata Shuri no Suke was appointed castellan."

Soon after Katsuie was appointed to Chokoji, the Rokkaku attacked it. Katsuie was outnumbered. That being said, he was not going to surrender. The Rokkaku cut off the water supply, but it did not bother Katsuie at all. It was said that he smashed the remaining water jars and attacked the Rokkaku army. It worked. The Rokkaku were defeated and the siege was lifted.
