Gifu Castle has been in the news of late due to its new discovery. The Ichinomon gate that was supposedly built by Nobunaga, is now highly to believed to be built by Saito Dosan due to its structure. The technique that was used to build the Ichinomon was similar to that of Oga Castle in Yamagata City, Gifu Prefecture. The Toki family never resided at Gifu Castle. Since the Toki family and Dosan lived during the same era, it is possible that Dosan built the Ichinomon gate at Gifu Castle.
