Not long after the Battle of Nagashino 1575, Nobunaga went to Kyoto to participate in kemari.
The Chronicle of Lord Nobunaga (p. 229)
"On the 3rd of the Seventh Month, His Imperial Highness [Crown Prince Sanehito] put on kickball matches at the imperial palace. Mere words cannot describe how splendidly the ceremony and decorum appropriate to such events were put on display. Nobunaga brought only his horse guards along with him."
