Nobunaga and Sumo

Good Morning friends! It was well known that Nobunaga loved sumo. He has a special place in sumo history. If you ever attended a sumo bout in Japan and near the end of the bout, a wrestler twirls a bow in the ring. Guess who started that the tradition? You guess it, Oda Nobunaga. He had to start the "Yumitori" in the 1570s. The photo above is a sumo ring monument in Azuchi. Nobunaga often had mock sumo bouts as a youth and enjoyed watching it as a form of relaxation.

I didn't know Nobunaga did sumo too. I only knew that he liked to watch sumo matches.
