Anjo Castle News

My good friend Mikawa Hide has an excellent article on Anjo Castle.  http://www.sengokushiseki.com/?p=264  The article includes history of the castle.  The battles between the Oda, Matsudaira, and Imagawa families.  As you read along, the article has maps of the honmaru and ni no maru.  As my myself, I have been to Anjo Castle twice and visited the museum, which is highly recommended.

I also wrote a blog post on Anjo Castle back in 2009.  http://www.otsuke.blogspot.com/2009/09/anjo-castle.html  In 1540, Oda Nobuhide, with help from Mizuno Tadamasa, attacked Anjo Castle.  The 3,000 strong army took over the castle and Anjo Nagaie was killed in action.  Nobunaga's half-brother, Oda Nobuhiro was the new lord of the castle.  However, the tables were flipped in 1549.  The Imagawa/Matsudaira army triumphed by using firearms.  Nobuhiro was captured.  Nobuhide agreed to exchange Takechiyo (Tokugawa Ieyasu) for Nobuhiro at Kasadera in Owari.

Tenka no tame!
