Mitsuhide Administrator in Kaga?

I found this video by Owada Tetsuo interesting.  According to him, Akechi Mitsuhide was a local administrator in Kaga for a short time.  Owada Tetsuo explains in a book, Hokoku Bunka (2020 winter ed). This is news to me.  In the Chronicle of Lord Nobunaga, there is nothing written about Mitsuhide receiving anything.  Now during the time of 1575 Nobunaga did get his hands on Nomi and Enuma districts in Kaga.  It is assumed that Mitsuhide was in control of them.  However, after Nobunaga took control over some areas of Kaga, Mitsuhide left for action in Tango.  Mitsuhide was busy and possibly overworked.

Power of Tea Utensils

Here is a short video on Nobunaga and tea utensils.  Nobunaga Would often give his retainers tea utensils as spoils of war, as well as money and land.

For example, in early 1576, Nobunaga rewarded Niwa Nagahide a tea bowl.  Nobunaga took it back in 1579 and in return gave Nagahide a sword.

Chronicle of Lord Nobunaga (p. 248)

"As the initial work was to his liking, he rewarded Gorozaemon (Niwa Nagahide) with one of the most famous objects of art from his own collection, a tea bowl that once belonged to Shuko--a happy event for Korezumi (Nagahide)."

Nohime (1535-1612) statue built in 1992 at Kiyosu Castle Park.

There is a new Nohime article by Busho Japan.  Topics include her marriage to Nobunaga, family tree, and several theories on what happened to her after Nobunaga's death.

Samonji Sword Video

I probably have posted this video in the past, but it is important to remind people that the great Samonji sword used by Imagawa Yoshimoto during the Battle of Okehazama is located in Kyoto at Kenkun Jinja.  Nobunaga took the Samonji sword as a spoil of war.  The sword was originally two feet six inches in length.  However, Nobunaga shortened to two feet two inches.  He later had the sword engraved " The sword of Imagawa Yoshimoto,  who was careless and killed by Nobunaga on 19. 5. 1560."

Owari no Tora

Here is some artwork from Banshoji Temple located in the Osu Kanjon district in Nagoya.  Owari no Tora means Tiger of Owari.  Owari no Tora was the nickname of Nobunaga's father, Oda Nobuhide.  Banshoji was built by Nobuhide in 1540.  Fitting since this is the year of the Tiger.  Chronicle of Lord Nobunaga (p. 53) describes Nobuhide, "Lord Bingo (Nobuhide), a particularly able man, made friends of the good fighting men of the various families  and exerted a certain control over them."  Nobuhide was feared by Saito Dosan, the Matsudaira, as well as the Imagawa.  There was a reason why he was called the Tiger of Owari.

Wakaki Hi no Mitsuhide

Wakaki Hi no Akechi Mitsuhide is a historical novel by Tomeo Yagiri (1914-87).  The novel is 241 pages and published  by Nihon Sheru Shuppan in 1973.  This novel is about young Mitsuhide working with Saito Dosan until finding full employment under Nobunaga. How I came across this gem is from a friend in Japan.
