The poster for Gifu's 450th anniversary of its founding by the Uesama is out. 2017 will be Gifu's 450th birthday. In 1567, Nobunaga changed the original name Inoguchi to Gifu. There will be a year long celebration for this historic event. Link for events and news: http://www.nobunaga450.jp

While I was in Japan, I saw the "countdown" clock at Gifu station to the celebration date. I hope I can return to visit Gifu when the celebration starts.
I plan to be there next year. Last month I was able to meet some of the staff who is promoting next year's project.
